California-based Loring Smart Roast has appointed Abbie Walther as its new President.
Walther will lead the team responsible for manufacturing ‘the next generation of groundbreaking coffee roasting technology’.
She will also tasked with ‘tightening production timelines’ and will oversee new roasting machine developments for Loring, whose clients include prominent specialty coffee brands, Tim Wendelboe, Black Coffee Roasting Co., Doma Coffee Roasting Company and Toby’s Estate.
“Abbie’s experience will be central to guiding Loring Smart Roast forward through several product developments and new technology innovations currently being crafted,” said Ed Barr, CEO, Loring Smart Roast, Inc.
Walther joins Loring from ship maintenance firm Lind Marine, where she held the position of Vice President of Operations Services.
“I am genuinely honoured and delighted to return to my manufacturing roots in joining the accomplished team at Loring Smart Roast as we endeavour to expand production to meet an exciting level of demand. I especially enjoy working in a craft industry where opportunities to galvanise team development and refine workflow provide very tangible and gratifying, not to mention tasty, results for customers,” Walther said.
Founded in 2003, Loring Smart Roast’s patented Flavor-Lock Roast Process technology is noted for reducing operating costs by up to 80% compared to conventional roasters and reducing emissions.
Its portfolio includes the S7 Nighthawk, S15 Falcon, S35 Kestrel and S70 Peregrine roasting machines.
