CoCo Fresh Tea & Juice has unveiled plans to expand its footprint to South Asia, which it believes has the potential to become the ‘next major market for bubble tea globally’.
The Taipei-based bubble tea chain is confident it will unearth ‘untapped potential’ in South Asia, with India and Pakistan cited as key growth markets.
CoCo Fresh Tea & Juice, which has more than 5,000 stores globally, is seeking to partner with ‘sizeable refreshment companies’ and master franchisors to kickstart its expansion in the region.
The bubble tea chain cited ‘rising urbanisation and a booming middle class’ in India and Pakistan as key to its planned growth.
Additionally, the customisation and ‘cultural adaptability’ of bubble tea means that the brand can establish a ‘region-specific’ menu to ‘bridge global trends with local tastes’, CoCo Fresh Tea & Juice added.
“After reaching 5,000 stores worldwide this year, CoCo has the most international coverage of any pearl milk tea brand, and our confidence level is high that South Asia is the next major market for bubble tea globally,” said Kody Wang, Deputy Director of Business Development, CoCo Fresh Tea & Juice.
Founded in 1997, CoCo Fresh Tea & Juice is the largest bubble tea chain by outlets globally, with the vast majority of its stores in China and Taiwan.
The bubble tea chain also has a growing presence in Southeast Asia where it currently operates more than 90 stores in the Philippines, alongside 11 outlets in Thailand and six in Japan.
