UK-based specialty coffee group WatchHouse is set to make its US debut in New York in the second quarter of 2023.
Founded in 2014, WatchHouse currently operates 10 stores across London and plans a further five in the capital in the next 12 months.
Additionally, the group is preparing to open its first location outside of London in Bath, UK, alongside its first international venture on Fifth Avenue, New York, US.
In September 2022 WatchHouse began crowdfunding via British crowdfunding platform Crowdcube to enable customers to invest and own shares in the company. As of 17 September 2022, WatchHouse had raised over £4.5m ($5.1m) in pre-commitments.
“We've grown from a team of five people to more than 230 partners during the last six years since opening our second house in Tower Bridge in 2016. As our estate hits double-digits, we look forward to big further milestones ahead including the opening of a further six UK houses in Notting Hill, Marylebone, Marble Arch, Covent Garden, Fenchurch Street and our first national house in Bath.
“Further to this, WatchHouse will be going trans-Atlantic with our first New York City house. Thanks to my teams throughout the years and we look forward to seeing how far we can really take this small side-line dabble into something with lasting significance as a UK hospitality brand,” said Roland Horne, CEO and Founder, WatchHouse.
WatchHouse’s slated US expansion follows that of boutique coffee group Grind, which opened its first store in the US in September 2022 in partnership with boutique members club Soho House.
