Joe & The Juice has signed a franchise agreement with The Independent Food Company to launch its first stores in Saudi Arabia.

The Danish coffee and juice chain has previously outlined plans to operate 200-300 outlets across the Middle East within ten years. It launched its first stores in the UAE in September 2022.

Kaspar Basse, Founder of Joe & The Juice, said that the partnership with The Independent Food Company will help the business ‘establish an important foothold’ in one of the fastest-growing markets in the Middle East.

The companies plan to launch four Joe & The Juice outlets in the first year of the partnership, the first of which will be in the capital city Riyadh, and reach at least 20 stores across Saudi Arabia by the end of 2025.

“Not only is the KSA market a great move for us within the Gulf and the Middle East but partnering with The Independent Food Company will help us establish an important foothold in one of the fastest-growing markets. They are the experts in food, markets, and brands. F&B is their game and we trust this journey with them. The current growth plan includes four branches in the first year, seven in the second, and 10 in the third year… and then we take it forward some more,” said Kaspar Basse, Founder, Joe & The Juice.

Copenhagen-based Joe & The Juice currently operates over 300 stores globally. The company also plans to launch in Kuwait, Oman and Qatar before the end of the year.

Reporting its financial results for 2021, the chain said revenues grew 30% to $149m with operating profit increasing 9% to $36m.

UAE-based hospitality company The Independent Food Company currently operates four other F&B brands across the Middle East — Salt, Switch, Parker’s, and Dubai-based coffee concept Grind.

“Joe & The Juice is arriving in the market at an opportune time as trends have seen a continuous rise in healthy products and beverages. This is the first international collaboration for us. We have put our trust in a recognised and respected brand because we love to introduce new and exciting concepts into the market. Fast and healthy options, or a hot cup of coffee following a sandwich and salad, it is a great tasting healthy menu packed with flavour and variety,” said Deem AlBassam, Managing Director, The Independent Food Company.
