Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii has announced the appointment of Alex Hanson as Field Success Manager as it pursues 150 new locations over the next five years.
The chain, which currently operates 30 stores across the US, reported
strong mid-year outlet growth in August 2022 with a 66% increase in average unit volume for the period compared to 2021.
Bad Ass Coffee highlighted Hanson’s franchising experience as being key during a ‘pivotal time’ for the brand. Hanson previously held senior franchising roles at US health retailer Buff City Soap and fast-food restaurants Teriyaki Madness and Smashburger.
“Alex will be a key player on our team to help us achieve our development and performance goals. With the growth we are experiencing, Alex’s addition to the ‘ohana comes at the perfect time as we execute our plans and commitment to our current franchise owners,” said Scott Snyder, CEO, Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii.

Hanson’s appointment follows that of David Gladstone as Senior Director of Real Estate in April 2022. Gladstone was cited as a key contributor to Bad Ass Coffee’s growth in the first six months of 2022.
World Coffee Portal research found that 80% of industry leaders are positive about the sufficient growth potential for branded coffee shops in the US and that operators should be encouraged in their pursuits of expansion.
Project Café USA 2023 anticipates the US branded coffee shop market will exceed 41,900 outlets by September 2027.
