Pennsylvania’s Duck Donuts has appointed its first Canadian Development Director to lead the coffee chain’s growth in the country.
Costas Siountres, who has more than 20 years’ franchising experience with healthy food chain Pita Pit, has been hired to provide guidance on strategic direction and help achieve whole system growth in Canada.
Duck Donuts said Siountres will have responsibility for managing the process from the sourcing of leads through the awarding of the franchise agreements.
“International expansion is a key component in our growth strategy and we are delighted to continue expanding our presence in Canada. Costas brings a wealth of knowledge and connections to the team and will play an integral role in helping us quickly grow the brand throughout Canada,” said Eric Lavinder, Chief Development Officer, Duck Donuts.
Duck Donuts, which opened its first and, to-date, only store in Canada in May 2022 in Burlington, Ontario, has also signed a multi-unit franchise agreement to develop and operate in Edmonton, a city in Alberta, Canada.
During its third quarter, Duck Donuts signed 10 franchise agreements for 13 new stores. It currently operates over 100 sites across the US, alongside international outlets in Canada, Saudi Arabia and Puerto Rico.
In July 2022, the company announced its upcoming debut in Thailand. In partnership with The Great Restaurant Group Co., Duck Donuts plans to open 10 Thai stores over the next five years.
