McCafé introduces the Australiano to celebrate Australian coffee heritage

McCafé is celebrating its Australian roots by launching the Australiano, a coffee beverage designed to ‘treat resident coffee aficionados’ with a flavour combination of native Australian wattleseed, chai, and McCafé coffee. McCafé says that the product, launched in partnership with DDB Sydney, will be available for a limited time only.

80% drop off in Pret’s London banking hubs on Fridays

The number of customers visiting Pret A Manger stores in London’s banking hubs is almost back to pre-pandemic levels, according to Bloomberg’s Pret Index, which also highlights that visits fall 80% every Friday. Bloomberg said that the anomaly is holding back an otherwise successful return-to-office push. The index also reported that Pret’s business in London’s airport terminals is now a quarter higher than it was before the pandemic.

Oatly launches one hour delivery for consumers in LA and New York

Oatly is offering one-hour delivery of a selection of its oat-based products in Los Angeles and New York City, with consumers now able to order products through delivery platforms Postmates, UberEats, DoorDash and Grubhub. The Swedish oatmilk maker said that the new delivery format builds upon success for the company in the US that is already in high demand via retail, specialty coffee and foodservice partners.

Costa Coffee continues its support of Pride with new partnerships

To celebrate Pride, Costa Coffee is collaborating with Switchboard LGBT+ Helpline, one of the UK’s oldest LGBT+ charities, to create a special limited-edition designed reusable waffle cup that will be available in selected Costa Coffee stores and online. The UK-based chain will also be an official partner of Brighton & Hove Pride 2022, hosting Espresso Martini happy hours and offering its full summer drinks menu.

Dunkin’ donates $1 from every iced coffee sold to local children’s hospitals

On 25 May Dunkin’ hosted Iced Coffee Day where $1 from every iced coffee sold at participating locations in Canada were donated to the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation to support children at local hospitals. Since its inception in 2006, the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation has granted more than $37m to national and local non-profits.

Jamaica Blue continues UK expansion with Belfast store

Jamaica Blue has opened its first coffee shop in Northern Ireland at the Forestside shopping centre in Belfast. The Australian coffee chain says it plans to open five further outlets across the UK nation in 2022 before expanding into the Republic of Ireland in 2023. Jamaica Blue currently operates in more than 170 locations across seven countries, with its UK-presence currently standing at 14 outlets.
