Canadian coffee chain Tim Hortons is to open its first London store on 1 July as it pursues greater visibility in the UK market, with the new store catering for dining, drive-thru and delivery.
Located at Park Royal, North West London, Tim Hortons said that the new store is expected to become a 'hot spot', chosen due to both local appetite for the brand and commuter footfall.
The site will offer seating for up to 100 customers alongside a drive-thru service. Delivery services from the new Park Royal site will also be available via Just Eat, Uber Eats and Deliveroo within a few weeks of the restaurant officially opening.
In April 2022, Tim Hortons announced plans to more than double its UK store portfolio by the end of 2023 with a focus on drive-thru, delivery and key high street locations. The company currently operates 54 stores in the UK.
Highlighting the growing commercial potential of drive-thru in the UK, 57% of consumers surveyed by World Coffee Portal in 2022 indicated they would purchase beverages from a drive-thru if the format were more readily available.
“Having opened 52 venues across the UK, Londoners have been crying out for us to open a restaurant in the capital, so we’re predicting a record-breaking turnout on Friday. We pride ourselves on being an inclusive, family-friendly venue, welcoming guests’ morning, noon and night and we cannot wait to welcome as many of you as possible from 7am on the day also celebrated as Canada Day,” said Kevin Hydes, Chief Commercial Officer, Tim Hortons franchise in the UK.
Tim Hortons operates over 5,100 restaurants across 13 countries, including in the US, Mexico, Spain, the UK, across the Middle East, China, Thailand and the Philippines.
The Canadian chain is set to launch two new next generation outlet designs in the US this summer, trialing a drive-thru with a condensed 24-seat dining room and compact drive-thru only model across four US states.
