illycaffè has announced the appointment of Javier Valle Goyanes as the new General Manager of illycaffè spa in Spain and Portugal, where he assumes responsibility for the company’s strategy and brand in the Iberian Peninsula.
Valle Goyanes, who has a degree in business administration and management from the European Business School in Madrid, will report directly to Cristina Scocchia, who was appointed CEO of illycaffè spa in January.
Like Scocchia, Valle Goyanes previously worked for L'Oreal, where he assumed the position of Managing Director.
The appointment of Valle Goyanes follows the departure of Massimo Saggese, who leaves illycaffè spa to pursue a new professional project after 20 years working in the coffee industry.
illycaffè recently reported sales of €500m ($536m) in 2021, with 10.1% revenue increase reported for the wider EMEA area, excluding Italy.
Founded in Trieste in 1933, illycaffè operates in cafés, restaurants, hotels, offices and homes in over 140 countries worldwide. It has 269 stores and mono-brand illy shops in more than 40 countries.
