The South African coffee chain could open as many as 100 outlets within selected Sasol Delight convenience stores across South Africa by 2026 as it expands its retail partnerships

South African coffee chain Seattle Coffee Company is to open up to 100 outlets within selected Sasol Delight convenience stores across South Africa over the next three years.
Petrol retailer Sasol recently launched a retail business strategy which included a plan to provide an improved fresh food, beverage and bakery offering across its 440-strong portfolio.
The first Seattle Coffee Company outlet is set to launch in December 2022 at Sasol Pinehaven in the city of Krugersdorp.
Seattle Coffee Company currently operates more than 200 cafés in South Africa. The Sasol Delight agreement adds to the chain’s presence in 41 Caltex FreshStop convenience stores and 11 Food Lover’s Market locations across the country.
“It is our ultimate aim, through our strategic partnerships, to bring the best coffee experiences to our customers. Really high standards of coffee and fast-paced retail environments aren’t always synonymous. In doing so we allow the customer to have the best, always,” said Peter Howie, Co-Founder, Seattle Coffee Company.
Seattle Coffee Company was launched in the UK in 1993 before opening its first South African store in Cavendish Square, Cape Town, in 1996. The company sold its 60-store UK business to Starbucks in 1998.
Fellow domestic chain Vida e Caffè, which operates more than 220 stores in South Africa, also combines standalone locations with retail partnerships. Vida e Caffè operates in Shell convenience stores and forecourts and in May 2022 announced it would sell its coffee in locations of healthy restaurant chain Sweetbeet following an undisclosed acquisition.
