Shipley Do-Nuts plans further US expansion after strong 2021

The US bakery and coffee chain expects to grow its store count by 90% to more than 600 stores over the next five years following ‘record breaking’ growth in 2021

Shipley Do-Nuts plans to operate more than 600 locations by 2027

Shipley Do-Nuts has announced that it will embark on significant expansion after achieving strong growth sales and outlet growth. The Houston-based bakery and coffee chain said it had experienced 26% stores growth between 2018 and 2021, with the brand now present in 10 US states.

In late-2021 the company signed a deal to open 25 stores in Dallas-Fort Worth.

The chain now operates more than 330 stores in the US and has committed to opening a further 300 new locations within the next five years. It is now ‘actively recruiting’ new franchisees with a focus on growing its presence in Colorado, Georgia and Oklahoma.

“From opening 18 new stores across the Southeast in 2021 to breaking ground on our new headquarters in Houston and all the milestones in between, we accomplished more than ever over the past year," said Shipley CEO Clifton Rutledge.

"The growth we experienced has primed us for continued success in 2022" he added.

Shipley Do-Nuts, which opened its first store in 1936, faces stiff competition from coffee and donut rival Dunkin’, which operates more than 9,300 stores in the US.
