Starbucks and Netflix have launched a new monthly social content series. ‘But Have You Read the Book?’ will be hosted by Orange is the New Black actress Uzo Aduba, and will focus on the process of adapting novels into films.

Streamed monthly, episodes will be filmed at Starbucks locations across the US and will feature conversations with authors, cast members and show creators over coffee and based on selections from the Netflix Book Club.

“Coffee brings us together for a shared experience with loved ones, friends, and even strangers, and Starbucks has built a community over the years for people to have conversations with one another about literature and entertainment,” said Starbucks CMO Brady Brewer.

“The new relationship we’ve formed with Netflix for ‘But Have You Read the Book?’ is an exciting way to bring these conversations from the third place to our customers, wherever they are,” added Brewer.

The Seattle-based coffee chain has long championed its coffee shops as venues to work, hold meetings or host groups, and was among the first coffee chains to introduce free in-store wi-fi in a bid to increase dwell time.

Ironically, customers will now be able to get a taste of Starbucks’ third place experience from the comfort of their own homes.
