Italian coffee roaster marks 10th anniversary of The Wimbledon Championships sponsorship and reaffirms its commitment to the UK coffee market
Lavazza first sponsored The Wimbledon Championships in 2011 and has since built strong ties with sports organisations globally
The Wimbledon Championships will be held from Monday 28th June-Sunday 11th July, 2021, in London, UK, under reduced capacity in accordance with UK social distancing guidelines. Across the two-week tournament, 100 baristas will serve tennis fans Lavazza coffee from 60 service points within the venue.
Like many major sports events around the world, The Wimbledon Championships 2020 were postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Lavazza and tennis are the perfect match”, said Pietro Mazzà, Regional Director UK & Nordics and General Manager Lavazza UK, “We are proud to have reached this landmark partnership milestone with Wimbledon, sharing quality, authentic Italian coffee with its visitors and world-class players. The 10th anniversary is testament to our ongoing commitment to tennis and to the UK market. We are pleased to announce the renewal of the partnership, allowing us to deliver our premium coffee experience to tennis fan for years to come.”
Lavazza has formed strong ties with sports organisations in recent years, having first sponsored The Wimbledon Championships in 2011. In September 2020 it signed a
major sponsorship deal with Italian football club Juventus. The agreement saw Lavazza branding displayed pitch-side on Serie A and Coppa Italia matches and at the Juventus Training Centre. Lavazza will also be the exclusive coffee vendor at Juventus’ Allianz Stadium in Turin, Italy.
More recently, Lavazza has also become the Platinum Partner of the NITTO ATP Final 2021-2025 and renewed partnerships with Roland Garros and Lavazza Tennis Ambassadors.
