Dubai to host The Europe and Middle East Coffee Symposium in 2019

Celebrating the UAE’s status as a global coffee destination, Allegra Events is proud to announce The Europe and Middle East Coffee Symposium 2019 in Dubai

Today, the Middle East represents a world of opportunity for coffee businesses around the globe. Allegra research shows the branded coffee shop market grew 7.3% in 2018 and is forecast to reach 12,720 outlets by 2023. Aspirational coffee brands have rapidly gained momentum among consumers, while a burgeoning specialty sector is ushering a new era of coffee excellence across the region.

A global hub for commerce and innovation, Dubai is a major focal point for the Middle East’s coffee evolution. The early 2000s saw rapid growth among international branded coffee chains such as Starbucks, Costa Coffee and McDonald’s, which laid the foundations for the city’s rapid adoption of café culture. The Emirate capital has since catalysed influence from around the world to build thriving branded chain and independent coffee shop sectors.

Testament to this success is the enduring appeal of domestic specialty brands such as Coffee Planet, Orbis Coffee Roastery and Tom & Serg. Today, the UAE’s branded coffee shop market numbers over 1,100 outlets, with Allegra research showing the sector grew by 8.5% in 2018 and is forecast to exceed 1,760 outlets by 2023.

To celebrate Dubai’s ascendance to the global coffee stage, Allegra is proud to host the first Europe and Middle East Coffee Symposium in the city in November 2019.

“We’re incredibly excited to honour the region’s fast-paced and diverse coffee shop culture over an action-packed three-day schedule. Hosted at the magnificent FIVE Palm Jumeirah Hotel in Dubai, attendees will benefit from an exclusive programme of networking events, our Supply and Innovation Day and the latest thought leadership from an inspirational Conference Day line-up,” said Allegra Group CEO, Jeffrey Young.

The event will also bring together the UAE’s strong Arabic coffee traditions and cutting-edge contemporary concepts, showcasing the very best Middle Eastern and European coffee shop operators, roasters and suppliers. Attendees will gain exclusive access to the latest Allegra World Coffee Portal data and experience Dubai’s world-class coffee culture first-hand through a comprehensive study tour of the city’s leading cafés and hospitality concepts.

In addition to showcasing the fast-growing UAE market, The Europe and Middle East Coffee Symposium will highlight the region’s diverse and influential national markets. Allegra research reveals Saudi Arabia is the Middle East’s fastest-growing market at 9.6%, while international brands are increasingly courting Kuwait’s highly developed branded coffee shop sector, which grew at 8.9%.

With 82% of Middle Eastern industry leaders surveyed by Allegra reporting positive trading conditions in 2018, this diverse and fast-paced coffee market looks set for many exciting developments in 2019. Join us in Dubai for the premier Middle Eastern and European coffee business event, 11-13 November 2019, FIVE Palm Jumeirah Hotel.
