Albert Heijn opens in-store cafés in Amsterdam supermarket
AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS – Leading Dutch Supermarket Albert Heijn has opened an in-store bakery café and deli kitchen this week at its Albert Heijn XL branch in Amsterdam. The café will be the first in a phased roll out of the format to other Albert Heijn stores throughout The Netherlands, starting later in 2017.
Marit van Edmondm, Commercial Director at Albert Heijn commented, ‘With the opening of the Bakery Café and the Deli Kitchen in Albert Heijn stores we are taking the next step in combining retail with food service.’
The bakery café serves nine varieties of its private-label Perla Excellent espresso coffee using La Cimbali machines, alongside juices, smoothies and a selection of pastries and made to order gourmet sandwiches.
