The Yorkshire Tea and Taylors of Harrogate parent company saw sales rise 6.5% in the UK, 17.5% in the US and 47% across the rest of the world during its last fiscal year
Family-owned Bettys & Taylors Group has reported strong annual sales for its popular Yorkshire Tea and Taylors of Harrogate packaged brands.
Reporting on the 12 months ended 31 October 2024, the UK-based business achieved 27% year-on-year sales growth to reach a record £319.2m ($432.8m) – 92% of which was generated in its home market.
Of its international sales, £15.7m ($21.3m) came from the US – a 17.5% year-on-year increase – with the remaining £9.4m ($12.8m), up 47% on the previous year, generated across 50 international markets.
In a financial statement, Bettys & Taylors Group credited its flagship Yorkshire Tea brand as its most significant sales driver. The group also reported that sales of its Taylors of Harrogate single-serve coffee bags increased 8% year-on-year to £12m ($16.3m) during the fiscal year.
Taylors of Harrogate, which distributes ground and wholebean coffee in the UK via major supermarkets and online retailers, sources coffee from 15 countries and sells to 49 markets globally.
Strong group sales and investments in production capacity – the group’s tea and coffee production increased 15% year-on-year during the reporting period to 32.5m metric tonnes – also boosted profits, with operating profit more than doubling to £29.2m ($39.5m) and pre-tax profits rising 130% year-on-year to £28.8m ($39m).
Alongside its Taylors of Harrogate and Yorkshire Tea retail brands, Bettys & Taylors Group also operates five tea rooms across Yorkshire, serving over 2.5 million customers annually, as well as a cookery school and craft bakery.
