Specialty coffee roaster and café chain Puku Puku is among 13 F&B units the French travel concession group has opened at Jorge Chávez International Airport’s new terminal
Lagardère Travel Retail has commenced operations at Jorge Chávez International Airport in Lima, Peru, launching a 35,500sq ft dining area alongside 430,000sq ft of duty-free retail space.
The Paris-based travel concession group won a contract to operate at the airport in December 2023 and has opened 13 F&B units at the site’s new terminal, which opened to the public on 31 May 2025 following two years of construction.
As part of its ‘Nación Sazón’ dining area – which translates to ‘The Land of Flavours’ – Lagardère has focused on Peruvian F&B concepts, including premium seafood restaurant CALLAO, Japanese-inspired SAKAI, created by world-renowned chef Mitsuharu Tsumura, and Peruvian specialty coffee chain Puku Puku – its first licensed café brand in South America.
Founded in 2020, Puku Puku – which translates to ‘the bird that sings at sunrise’ in Quechua – currently operates 12 outlets across Peru, with Jorge Chávez International Airport the brand’s first transport hub site. Puku Puku sources premium Peruvian microlot coffee via direct-trade partnerships, which it roasts in small batches at its facility in Miraflores – an upscale district in the capital, Lima.
“Nación Sazón is a true gastronomic hub that brings Peru’s unique cuisine to the world. We have put our heart and soul into this project and are very proud of the results,” said Cyril Letocart, CEO, Lagardère Travel Retail Peru.
Founded in 1852 as a bookstore at Paris Gare de Lyon railway station, Lagardère Travel Retail now operates approximately 1,600 F&B stores across 150 airports and 100 train stations in 30 markets globally.
The business launched in Peru in January 2022 with three Aelia Duty Free stores and also operates half a dozen restaurant units in Chile at Arturo-Merino-Benítez airport in Santiago.
Its global portfolio of licensed coffee chains includes Starbucks, Costa Coffee, Pret A Manger and EL&N, which Lagardère operates alongside proprietary café brands So! Coffee and 1 Minute Café.
