Having worked with the Colorado-based coffee chain as a consultant, former Procter & Gamble Marketing Director Iain Douglas now assumes full responsibility for developing its brand voice, enhancing community engagement and driving franchise growth
Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii has appointed marketing expert Iain Douglas as Chief Brand Officer.
In a press release, the franchised operator said Douglas’ extensive brand development experience will be key to creating bold marketing campaigns, developing a unified brand voice and enhancing community engagement.
Douglas previously worked with Bad Ass Coffee in a consultancy capacity and is credited with supporting its strategic rebranding after it was acquired by Royal Aloha Coffee, LLC in 2019. The rebrand comprised a new logo, packaging and store design, and sought to expand and diversify the chain’s audience through more targeted marketing and broader sales channels.
“This isn’t the first time that Iain has injected some Badass influence here at Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii and I am thrilled to welcome him back in a senior leadership role as Chief Brand Officer to further bring this iconic brand to life, accelerate growth and drive franchisee and community engagement. Iain doesn’t just bring extensive Fortune 500 brand know-how to our aggressive growth plans, but he’s a creative force that knows how to unlock brand potential and generate sustainable growth,” said Scott Snyder, CEO, Bad Ass Coffee.
Douglas joins Bad Ass Coffee from Texas-based leadership consultancy ArchPoint where he served as a Strategy & Brand Development Specialist. He has also held senior marketing and brand development roles at consumer goods giant Procter & Gamble, where he is credited with redefining the Olay skincare brand, as well as California-based wine producer Gallo and fashion group VF Corporation.
“Under Scott’s leadership, the brand has built a strong foundation, and I’m excited to help drive its next phase of exponential growth. Together, we’ll continue to showcase why Bad Ass Coffee is the destination for anyone seeking to be part of a truly iconic, dynamic, and fast-growing brand,” Douglas added.
Founded in 1989, Colorado-based Bad Ass Coffee currently operates 40 stores across 12 US states and has a further 100 sites in development. In January 2025, the coffee chain outlined a goal to open more than 20 new stores by the end of 2025.
