Vietnam’s Three O’Clock is set to enter four South Asia markets after granting exclusive regional franchise rights to India’s FranGlobal.

The deal will see FranGlobal launch Three O’Clock in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, with a goal of reaching 100 stores over the next decade.

FranGlobal Chairman Gaurav Marya said the café chain’s dual coffee and tea menu will resonate with young consumers on the Indian subcontinent.

Three O’Clock’s coffee menu includes espressos and americanos, as well as more unconventional salted coffees and espresso tiramisus, all of which can be served hot or cold. Its milk tea menu features jasmine oolongs, cloudy avocado teas and full leaf black teas.

Founded in 2016, Ho Chi Minh City-based Three O’Clock currently operates 10 outlets across Vietnam, all of which offer 24-hour service.

Three O’Clock is expected to make its international debut in India in May 2025, with FranGlobal eyeing shopping centres and airports in key cities such Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Delhi for expansion.

Founder and CEO Thuan Nguyen said the deal was a strategic step to elevate Vietnamese coffee on the global stage.

World Coffee Portal research shows the total Vietnamese branded coffee shop market has over 5,700 outlets, with more than 50 operators present in the country. While expanding internationally has historically been financially and operationally challenging for Vietnamese brands, several have found success abroad.

Jollibee Food Corp-owned Highlands Coffee operates 43 stores in the Philippines and Hanoi-based Cộng Cà Phê has 29 international sites across South Korea, Malaysia, Canada and Taiwan, while Phuc Long Coffee & Tea operates a single international site in the US.

Further highlighting growing franchise interest in Vietnamese coffee chains abroad, Vietnam’s Trung Nguyen Legend Group laid out international growth plans for its Trung Nguyen Legend and Trung Nguyen E-Coffee chains last year, including expansion to Australia and Canada.

Three O’Clock joins FranGlobal’s extensive portfolio of licensed café brands, including Belgian bakery café chain Le Pain Quotidien, Thai market leader Café Amazon, US premium chain Peet’s Coffee and Malaysia’s Daily Coffee.
