US specialty coffee group Reborn Coffee is seeking to open more than 100 franchise stores across the country by 2028.
Founded in 2015, Reborn Coffee currently operates 11 outlets across California. In a press release, the coffee chain said it has been granted approval to franchise in its home state and the 39 non-registration US states – defined as states where businesses can franchise without filing or registering additional documents.
Reborn Coffee has also filed applications to operate in the country’s 12 other registration states, which include Illinois, Michigan, New York, Virginia and Wisconsin.
“We are thrilled to enter this exciting new phase as a franchisor in the US. This approval unlocks opportunities for franchisees to join us in shaping the future of specialty coffee,” said Jay Kim, CEO, Reborn Coffee.
Reborn Coffee has prioritised international expansion over domestic growth since the end of 2022, when it acquired a coffee shop, roastery and R&D facility in Daejeon, South Korea.
However, despite signing agreements to launch in the UAE, China, Hong Kong, Macao, Indonesia and Thailand, Reborn Coffee’s only international launch to date has been a single site in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, which opened in November 2023.
