Nestlé USA has opened a new beverage production facility and distribution centre in Glendale, Arizona, which will produce Coffee Mate creamers and Starbucks-branded products.
The food and beverage giant has invested over $675m in the 630,000sq ft facility, first announced in March 2022, which it said will cater to an expected increase in consumer demand for its at-home coffee products across the US.
In a press release, Nestlé USA said the facility, its 20th in the country, will strengthen its market leadership of the US refrigerated creamers segment and will utilise digital tools to shift production based on changing consumer needs, trends and seasonality.
“Coffee culture is booming across the US as consumers seek more options for customisation and experimentation when it comes to their coffee at home. As the definitive leader in the refrigerated creamers space, we are focused on delivering on those consumer needs to drive the growth of our business and the category,” said Daniel Jhung, President of Coffee & Beverage, Nestlé USA.
In 2018, Swiss food and beverage giant Nestlé acquired exclusive rights to market and distribute Starbucks-branded retail packaged coffee, pods and ready-to-drink (RTD) ranges across more than 80 markets outside of Starbucks’ retail stores in as part of the $7.1bn Global Coffee Alliance partnership.
Nestlé generated CHF 67.1bn ($77.5bn) group revenues across the first nine months of 2024, with North America its strongest reporting segment by revenue – at CHF 18.5bn ($20.4bn).
Vevey-based Nestlé currently operates over 340 production facilities across 76 markets globally.
