Caffè Nero has reported record Christmas trading in the UK, including its highest ever daily sales.
The London-based coffee chain said total sales for the five weeks ended 30 December 2024 were 14% higher than the previous year, with weekly sales surpassing £9m ($10.9m) for two consecutive weeks and record daily sales of £1.5m ($1.8m) on 30 November 2024.
Sales growth was driven by record transactions in the first week of December 2024, with more than two million customers served across Caffè Nero’s 627 UK stores. Over 40% of all transactions during the five-week period were made via the Nero app.
“I’m very pleased with how we performed over the festive period. Despite a challenging macro-economic climate and the impact of two very disruptive storms, we performed extremely well. The record number of customers who chose to visit our stores shows we are continuing to gain market share and the strength of our store teams and the impact our festive menu made a real difference,” said Gerry Ford, Founder and Group CEO, Caffè Nero.
Founded in 1997, Caffè Nero is the fourth largest branded coffee chain in the UK by outlets and the largest operator within The Nero Group, which manages the Coffee#1, Harris+Hoole, 200 Degrees and FCB Coffee chains.
