Canada’s A&W has strengthened its partnership with Pret A Manger with an agreement to exclusively serve the UK-based chain’s Classic Blend coffee across its 1,000-plus restaurants.
Pret A Manger has traded in Canada since July 2022, opening several concession sites within A&W restaurants before launching its first bricks-and-mortar outlet in Toronto in January 2024. The coffee and food-to-go chain has since opened a second store in the city as well as its first standalone site in Vancouver.
The latest move is part of a ten-year development agreement signed by the two operators in May 2024, which also includes a pledge to open more standalone cafés.
“Pret’s exceptional quality and taste have won over coffee lovers worldwide, and we’re thrilled to bring it to over 1,000 locations across Canada. We’ve tested Pret coffee in select A&W locations where it quickly became a favourite among guests, which led us to make it our official coffee at all A&W restaurants. We’re excited to bring this beloved coffee to more Canadians,” said Scott Darlow, Pret A Manger Lead at A&W Canada.
Founded in 1986, Pret A Manger operates 480 stores in the UK and a further 210 across 17 international markets. The coffee and food-to-go chain achieved £1bn annual sales for the first time last year, while group sales in the first six months of 2024 reached £569m ($752m).
