US bakery-café chain Cinnabon has announced plans to launch in New Zealand before the end of 2024.
Cinnabon, part of the Atlanta-based franchise group GoTo Foods, will open its first store at Auckland’s Westfield Newmarket shopping centre and has outlined potential to open between 10-15 outlets across New Zealand over the next few years, depending on demand.
“New Zealand is such a promising market for Cinnabon, and this is an amazing opportunity to create even more memorable experiences for new and returning customers” said Steven Yang, Senior Vice President, APAC, GoTo Foods International.
Cinnabon’s expansion in New Zealand will be led by newly created franchise entity, Cinnabon NZ.
Founded in 1985, Cinnabon positions itself as the ‘market leader among cinnamon roll bakeries’. Primarily located in high footfall shopping malls, airports and train stations, the chain currently has more than 1,900 franchise locations across 53 markets.
The bakery-café chain launched in neighbouring Australia in January 2020 with a store at the Toombul Shopping Centre in Brisbane. It now operates 16 sites across the country, primarily in Queensland.
Formerly Focus Brands, GoTo Foods also operates the Auntie Anne’s, Carvel, Jamba, Moe’s Southwest Grill, McAlister’s Deli and Schlotzsky’s food-to-go franchise chains. The group’s total network comprises more than 6,600 locations across 57 countries.
