Ceremony Coffee Roasters has joined FairWave Specialty Coffee Collective, an independent group of US specialty coffee brands formed in 2020.

Founded in 2002, Ceremony Coffee operates a roastery and six coffee shops across Maryland and is the first business outside the US Midwest to join FairWave’s network of specialty independents.

Ceremony Coffee will continue to be led by Founder Vincent Iatesta with its stores and wholesale operations unaffected by the move.

In a press release, Ceremony Coffee said FairWave Specialty Coffee Collective’s investment will support system upgrades, café renovations and production expansion at its Annapolis roastery.

“The essence of Ceremony will look and feel the same, the same warm cafés, friendly baristas and exceptional coffee, now backed by an even stronger support system. As part of the Collective, we’ll begin to see the advantages of our new resources, systems and expertise infused into the quality of our work, spaces and culture,” Iatesta said.

Led by its President of Growth, Isaac Hodges, FairWave Specialty Coffee Collective seeks to support local specialty coffee brands with additional expertise, economies of scale and back-of-house resources.

“It’s an honour to welcome Ceremony Coffee Roasters to the FairWave Collective. The people and passion for specialty coffee is evident throughout the organisation, and we’re looking forward to growing together,” Hodges said.

Ceremony Coffee is the 12th brand to join the group, which also includes multi-site specialty coffee brands The Roasterie, Messenger Coffee, Spyhouse and Anodyne Coffee Roasting Co

In October 2024, FairWave Specialty Coffee Collective added its first non-coffee brand, premium tea company Hugo Tea.
