Vienna-based bakery-café chain Aïda will launch in Slovakia in September 2024 with a store at Bratislava’s Nivy Mall.
The 1,400sq ft site will offer seating for 100 customers across its café and dedicated garden space inside the shopping centre. Aïda’s production facility in Floridsdorf, Vienna, will supply coffee and bakery products to the store.
The 110-year boutique operator, which currently operates 29 outlets across Austria and Germany, has signed a master franchise agreement with Bratislava-based hospitality group Dahleh Cafe s.r.o. and plans to open an initial five stores in Slovakia by 2027.
“In Dahleh Cafe s.r.o. we have found a strong partner who will operate the Aïda branch in Bratislava and others in Slovakia in our spirit and tradition and with attention to detail,” said Dominik Prousek, Executive Director and fourth-generation owner of Aïda.
World Coffee Portal’s Project Café Europe 2024 report found the total Slovakian branded coffee shop market comprises approximately 140 outlets, led by value-focused McCafé and Germany’s Tchibo Kaffee Bar with 34 and 19 stores respectively.
Slovakia will be Aïda’s third international market. The café chain debuted at Munich Airport in May 2024 in partnership with Germany’s Allresto Flughafen München Hotel und Gaststätten GmbH and is set to launch in Saudi Arabia this quarter with a site at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah.
