UK-based coffee and food-to-go chain Pret A Manger has opened its first standalone store in Canada, with an outlet in Toronto.

Pret A Manger has traded in Canada since July 2022, opening seven concession sites within A&W restaurants in Vancouver and Toronto.

“This expansion into Canada is a natural next step for Pret globally. We are committed to bringing the Pret brand to more people, wherever they are and after the warm welcome from locals at our Pret pop-ups in Canada, we're excited to continue expanding our footprint and menu offerings to more Canadians,” said Jorrie Bruffett, President, Pret A Manger North America.

Founded in London in 1986, Pret A Manger now operates nearly 700 outlets across 17 markets, including over 470 stores in the UK and 61 in the US

Its first bricks-and-mortar Toronto store follows market debuts in India, Luxembourg, Italy, Spain and Qatar last year.

In December 2023 Pret announced plans to launch in Greece with an SSP Group-operated store at Thessaloniki Airport. Three further outlets at Mykonos, Kos and Zakynthos airports are set to open in the first half of 2024.
