Starbucks has debuted in Honduras in partnership with existing Latin American franchisee Premium Restaurants of America.
The 3,000sq ft drive-thru store in San Pedro Sula has seating for 70 and is certified as a Greener Store, adhering to Starbucks’ lower environmental impact Greener Store Framework. All new Starbucks stores built across Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) have been built under the framework since the end of 2023.
The San Pedro Sula store is the first of four licensed Starbucks sites Premium Restaurants of America is planning to open by the end of 2025.
“Starbucks is honoured to partner with Premium Restaurants of America to bring our unparalleled coffeehouse experience to Honduran customers. Hondurans have a great appreciation for high-quality coffee, and we are excited to welcome our newest green apron partners to join us in creating moments of connection over coffee in our stores,” said Ricardo Arias-Nath, President, Latin America and the Caribbean, Starbucks.
Premium Restaurants of America has been a Starbucks franchise partner since 2010 and currently operates 76 licensed Starbucks outlets across El Salvador, Guatemala and Costa Rica.
Honduras is Seattle-based Starbucks’ 26th market in the LAC region and its 88th market globally.
The country is the fourth largest coffee producing nation in LAC behind Brazil, Colombia and Peru. Starbucks has sourced coffee from Honduras since the late 1990s and currently serves Honduran coffee, including specialty coffee from the Corquín-based CAFICO cooperative, in 15 markets globally.
