Hagen has unveiled a next-generation espresso bar concept in London’s upscale Mayfair district.
Founded in 2017, the Danish-inspired specialty coffee group said its latest site is the largest and most advanced of its 15 London outlets. Designed by Hagen Founder Tim Shroeder and Fitzrovia-based luxury hospitality design studio Munro, the Mayfair store takes inspiration from Denmark’s famous Tivoli amusement park, blending red, green, and terracotta interiors to create a ‘warm and inviting’ mid-century atmosphere.
With seating intentionally limited, a Circular zinc counter takes centre-stage to evoke Scandinavian ambiance while drawing attention to barista skill akin to high-end sushi restaurants and cocktail bars, Hagen detailed in a press release.
The site also features a compact low-emission electric Bellwether Shop Roaster for on-site roasting. Hagen first partnered with California-based Bellwether in December 2023 as part of efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and also houses a Bellwether Series 2 roaster at its Belgravia location.
In 2025, Hagen plans to launch a roasting room at the Mayfair outlet, which will enable customers to order coffee roasted to unique flavour profiles of their choice.
The boutique coffee bar group will serve a wide range of specialty coffees at the new site, including a single origin from its Himalayan Speciality Coffee Project in Taplejung, Nepal. Launched in 2019, the direct trade project supports 1,000 coffee farmers with tools and training to support greater access to export markets.
