Non-profit sustainability auditor Enveritas has verified 100% of coffee purchases made by San Francisco Bay Coffee in 2023 as ‘responsibly sourced’.
California-based San Francisco Bay Coffee partnered with Enveritas in June 2023 to measure progress on environmental, economic and social KPIs across its supply chain. The coffee roaster buys directly from farmers, primarily in Central and South America, and roasts over 30 million lb (13.6m kg) of coffee annually.
In a press release, San Francisco Bay Coffee said partnering with Enveritas has reinforced its role in ‘promoting a transparent, equitable, and sustainable coffee industry’. It also highlights its efforts to invest in sustainable labour and environmentally friendly practices, including protection of biodiversity, conserving soil and water, and managing chemical usage responsibly, it added.
