India’s abCoffee has partnered with Mumbai-based retail group Shoppers Stop to open cafés across its premium department store network.
The first three sites of the partnership opened at Shoppers Stop sites in Delhi, Bengaluru and Mumbai in August 2024. abCoffee CEO Abhijeet Anand told World Coffee Portal that four further locations are currently in development, with more planned for 2025.
If fully scaled, the partnership would give the value-focused coffee chain access to Shoppers Stop entire premium department store footprint – which currently comprises 114 outlets across 37 Indian cities.
“We are excited about this collaboration. Shoppers Stop is one of the finest shopping destinations in India and this collaboration truly aligns with abCoffee’s vision of brewing India’s finest coffees for Indians wherever they go”, Anand said.
In a press release, abCoffee said the collaboration marks a significant milestone for its expansion strategy, which recently saw it open seven stores in Bengaluru in two days.
Founded in June 2022, abCoffee currently operates 62 outlets across India and has an ambitious target to reach 10,000 stores across the South Asian country within the next 10 years.
Backed by Bengaluru-based investment firm Nexus Venture Partners and Singapore’s Tanglin Venture Partners, abCoffee has raised $5.4m over the last 12 months to accelerate the roll-out of its quick-service, on-the-go concept. The business forecasts it will reach 150 stores by April 2025.
