Costa Coffee Malaysia has appointed advertising and public relations firm Havas to deliver its marketing, creative and social media campaigns across the country.
Havas Malaysia will spearhead the coffee chain’s digital strategy, social media, content creation, trade marketing and developing in-store assets.
“We are excited with what 2024 will bring. The appointment of Havas will facilitate us to undertake an aggressive growth strategy to further strengthen our brand relevance locally while maintaining our international credentials,” said Lim Ju Lee, Head of Marketing, Costa Coffee Malaysia.
UK-based Costa Coffee entered Malaysia in partnership with franchisee Gapurna Permai Sdn Bhd in 2019 with two stores at Langkawi International Airport. In August 2019, Gapurna Permai said it would invest RM 100m ($23m) to open more than 100 outlets nationwide by 2024, predominantly in shopping centres and transport hubs.
Costa Coffee’s footprint in Malaysia currently stands at 15 bricks-and-mortar outlets alongside more than 650 self-serve Smart Café machines.
Havas takes over Costa Coffee Malaysia’s social media marketing responsibilities from Ogilvy, which led the coffee chain’s content creation and social media campaigns for 12 months from February 2023.
