Nespresso UK appoints Third City to lead sustainability comms

The B Corp accredited communications agency will oversee digital, in-store and earned media campaigns for the coffee pod giant across the UK and Ireland

Nespresso UK and Ireland has appointed B Corp accredited Third City as its first retained sustainability communications agency. 
 

London-based Third City, which attained B Corp accreditation in July 2022, has been handed a strategic brief to showcase the coffee pod giant’s sustainability credentials to consumers, led by engagements focused on the recyclability of its aluminium-based capsules. 


Campaigns will include earned media – organic, unpaid coverage – as well as digital, e-commerce and in-store advertising within Nespresso’s 26 UK-based boutique outlets. 


“Nespresso has an incredible sustainability story to tell, from its commitment to driving up recycling rates, initiatives to increase the resilience of coffee farming communities, to collaborating to give capsules a second life. Our programme will show how coffee can be a force for good,” said Susanna Francis, Partner and Director, Third City. 


Nespresso, which operates a global retail network of 802 boutiques, attained B Corp certification in April 2022, scoring 84 in its B Impact Assessment, compared to a global average of 50.9.  
 

The coffee pod brand’s UK consumer account is held by Alfred London, which it appointed in June 2022.
