Milan-based Cimbali Group has announced the full acquisition of Vassalli Service AG, its long-term distributor in Switzerland.
In a press release, Cimbali Group said Vassalli Service AG has been ‘an integral part’ of the sale and maintenance of its professional espresso coffee machines in Switzerland for more than six decades.
The acquisition, which completed on 2 October 2023, also sees Cimbali Group create a new Swiss entity, Cimbali Group Switzerland. Marc Schneider, who has been CEO of Vassalli Service AG since December 2013, retains leadership of the new group and will also sit on its Board of Directors alongside Cimbali Group Managing Director Enrico Bracesco.
The sum of the acquisition has not been disclosed.
“This investment is yet another step in the expansion envisaged in our long-term strategic plan and it reinforces our presence in the heart of Europe, in a key market such as Switzerland for both traditional and fully automatic machines. Our aim is to maintain the standards and reputation that Vassalli has built up over the decades, enhancing our brands and establishing an excellent service infrastructure throughout the country,” Bracesco said.
In a further leadership update, Cimbali Group announced that Stefano Caverzaschi has been promoted from Regional Director for Distributors to a new Regional Director for Western Europe role. He will oversee Cimbali Group’s European subsidiaries and manage the operations of the Swiss subsidiary.
Cimbali Group, which manufactures the LaCimbali, Faema, Slayer and Casadio brands, currently operates four production facilities in Italy alongside one site in the US. The Vassalli Service AG acquisition expands the group's global presence to 12 international offices.
Opfikon-based Vassalli Service AG currently employs 58 staff and has offices, showrooms and certified training centres in Zurich and Lausanne.
