US coffee chain Biggby Coffee is targeting 1,000 locations across the US by 2028.

The franchise operator was one of the fastest growing branded coffee chains in the US last year, increasing its store count by 29% in the 12 months to August 2022 to reach 320 outlets across the country.

Founded in Michigan in 1995, Biggby Coffee currently operates across 13 US states and recently launched in the US state of Georgia.

“We are thrilled to announce additional expansion within Georgia. There’s a tremendous amount of opportunity in the coffee and café space. No one else is doing what we are on the same scale, and that’s attracting a lot of attention. It’s a really exciting time for us as we continue seeing growth through franchise expansion and year-over-year revenue numbers,” said Bob Fish, Co-CEO, Biggby Coffee.

World Coffee Portal research found that 80% of industry leaders believe there is sufficient growth potential for branded coffee shops in the US, with more than 40% expecting like-for-like sales growth within the coffee shop sector to outperform GDP growth over the next 12 months.
