TOUS les JOURS seeks to reach 100 US stores following 32% sales rise

The South Korean bakery café chain expects to expand its US operations to 26 states in the second half of 2022 as it pursues 100 store milestone

South Korean bakery café chain TOUS les JOURS is targeting further expansion in the US, where it currently operates 78 outlets, following strong sales in its second quarter. 
 

The California-based bakery café chain achieved 32% sales growth in the three months to 30 June 2022 to reach nearly $30m. Reporting on its six-month results, TOUS les JOURS said same store sales had increased 20% on 2021. 


The company cited an expanded menu and a successful Mother’s Day promotion in May as contributing to sales growth in the period. 


Founded in South Korea in 1997, TOUS les JOURS currently operates more than 1,650 stores globally. The chain entered the US market in 2004 and is now targeting 100 US locations. 


Having opened five new stores in its second quarter, including first-time locations in Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Nebraska, TOUS les JOURS said it will soon launch in six new states, including Utah, Nevada and Alabama. 


With a new corporate flagship store slated for 2023, the chain said it had signed 41 franchise agreements in the first half of 2022. 


“Our current footprint includes 78 locations across 20 states, and we are eager and determined to continue accelerating our growth and soon reach our 100-store milestone in the US. As the popularity of the bakery segment grows in this country, TOUS les JOURS aims to be as admired and beloved in the US as we are in South Korea, and we believe we are on our way,” said Sam Hong, Business Development Manager, TOUS les JOURS. 


TOUS les JOURS is not the only South Korean chain targeting growth within the US bakery café market. In July 2021 South Korean coffee chain Paris Baguette stated its intention to lead the ‘transformation’ of the bakery café space in the US with an ambitious target of 1,000 new stores across the US by 2030. It currently operates 100 stores in the country and 4,000 outlets globally.
