Union Square Hospitality Group invests in New York-based Joe Coffee
NEW YORK, USA – Union Square Hospitality Group and Affiliates, the owner of Union Square Coffee, Gramercy Tavern and Blue Smoke among other hospitality businesses, has made a strategic investment in specialty coffee company Joe Coffee. The investment will be used to grow the company in New York City, Philadelphia, with a view for further expansion in the near future.
‘We chose to make this investment with Joe Coffee because they are dedicated to the pursuit of making flawless coffee, are led by passionate and exceptional management, and share the same hospitality values as USHG,’ said Danny Meyer, Chief Executive Officer of Union Square Hospitality Group.
When it first opened in 2003, Joe Coffee was a pioneer of the third wave of coffee in NYC, focusing on serving ‘quality, responsibly sourced beans’ with ‘warm and genuine hospitality.’ Today, the company operates 14 cafes and supplies them, along with restaurants nationwide, with coffee which it roasts in its Red Hook, Brooklyn Roastery.
Jonathan Rubinstein, Co-Founder and President of Joe Coffee said, ‘With this new funding, we will continue to do what we love - roast, brew, and serve the best quality coffee with genuine hospitality - and now we are excited to bring Joe to even more great communities across the country.’
